Strawberry Sangria

"Strawberry Sangria" .. Ode to Summertime!

Last Thursday, I began a series of sinfully good Sangria recipes with my "Tuscan Sangria". It became wildly popular. This week we continue down that very same path with one of my favorite early season addictions .. the incredibly fruitful "Strawberry Sangria"!

As much as I love the potent, red wine version of the Spanish summer sipper, there is something about Rosé or Rosado wine and plump red strawberries that screams summer!

Strawberry Sangria
One 750 ml bottle of Rosé wine (to keep to the Spanish origins of Sangrias you may opt for a Rosé from Spain, a Rosado)
1/2 cup strawberry schnapps
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups ginger ale
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
Whole strawberries
Ice cubes

In a pitcher, stir together wine, strawberry schnapps, and sugar until dissolved. Add ginger ale and sliced strawberries. Cover and chill for 1 to 4 hours. Serve in glasses over ice. If desired, garnish with whole strawberries.

Taking advantage of one of summertime's favorite fruits and mixing it with one of summer's most requested wines, a Rosado, this Sangria recipe is sure to be a hit anytime, anywhere this summer!
